Electric Field Calculation from Point Charges

Very Hard Physics Electrostatics And Electromagnetism

A point charge of +3 µC is positioned at the origin of a coordinate system. A second point charge of -2 µC is located at coordinates (4 m, 0). Calculate the electric field strength (E) at a point located at (2 m, 2 m) in the coordinate system due to the two charges. Remember that the electric field (E) due to a point charge is given by the formula:

E = k * |q| / r2,

where k (Coulomb's constant) is approximately 8.99 x 109 N m2 C-2, q is the charge, and r is the distance from the charge to the point where the field is calculated.
