Length of Median in Triangle

Hard Problem Solving Geometry

A triangle ABC has sides of lengths 7, 24, and 25. The median from vertex A to side BC intersects BC at point D. What is the length of median AD in the triangle?

Use the formula for the length of the median from vertex A to side BC, which is given by:

$$ m_a = \sqrt{\f\frac{2b^2 + 2c^2 - a^2}{4}} $$

where:

  • $$ a $$ = length of side BC,
  • $$ b $$ = length of side CA,
  • $$ c $$ = length of side AB.
