In a small town, there lived a young girl named Lily who loved to watch the stars at night. Every evening, she would spread a blanket in her backyard and lie down staring at the sky, dreaming of the constellations she had learned about in school. One night, while gazing at the twinkling stars, she noticed that one star seemed to shine brighter than the others. She didn’t know it at the time, but it was the planet Venus. Excited by this discovery, she ran inside to tell her mother.
“Mom! I saw a star that wasn’t like the others. It was so bright!” Lily exclaimed with enthusiasm.
Her mother smiled and replied, “That sounds wonderful, Lily! Maybe it’s a planet. Stars can vary in brightness, but planets often shine steadily. You should look for it again tomorrow night.”
Determined to learn more about the sky, Lily spent the next few evenings observing the stars, even jotting down notes about what she saw. She hoped to share her findings with her classmates during the upcoming science fair.
