Understanding Butterfly Lifecycle

Medium Basic Comprehension Detail Recognition

Listen closely to the following passage:

"Good afternoon, class! Today, we will explore the lifecycle of a butterfly. Butterflies undergo four main stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. During the egg stage, a female butterfly lays its eggs on a suitable host plant. After a few days, the eggs hatch into larvae, commonly known as caterpillars. The caterpillars feed on the host plant, growing rapidly as they molt several times. Once they reach a certain size, they enter the pupa stage, where they form a chrysalis. Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar undergoes a remarkable transformation. Finally, the adult butterfly emerges, ready to continue the cycle of life. The lifespan of a butterfly varies by species, but most adult butterflies live only a few weeks to months."
