Understanding 'Cheerful' in Context

During a chilly winter day, Sam decided to build a snowman in his front yard. He rolled three large snowballs, stacking them carefully on top of one another. Sam then searched for some interesting items to use as decorations. He found a carrot for the nose, some pebbles for the eyes, and an old scarf to wrap around the snowman’s neck. As he stood back to admire his handiwork, he felt a sense of satisfaction. The snowman looked cheerful, and Sam thought it was the best one he had ever made.
