Understanding Dr. Chen's Research Purpose

Very Hard Pragmatic Understanding Purpose Of Speech

Listen to the following discussion between two researchers, Dr. Emily Chen and Dr. Robert Ellis, at a scientific conference:

Dr. Chen: I'm excited to share my findings on the psychosocial effects of social media on adolescence. The increase in mental health issues can, in part, be linked to constant social comparison.

Dr. Ellis: That's fascinating, Emily! But don’t you think you should also consider the positive aspects, like how social media can foster community and support?

Dr. Chen: Absolutely, Robert. I’m planning to address that in my next paper. My goal today is to highlight the urgent need for awareness of these detrimental effects, especially among parents and educators.

Dr. Ellis: That’s a crucial point. It’s essential that we communicate both sides to create a balanced understanding. Are you finding that educators are responsive to these findings?

Dr. Chen: There’s definitely some resistance, but I believe that with more outreach, we can start a conversation. My next steps involve developing workshops for educators to equip them with strategies.
