In a study of social behavior, researchers investigated how the presence of others affects individual performance on a task. They observed that individuals perform better when they are being watched by others, a phenomenon known as social facilitation. Participants were asked to complete a simple puzzle while being in a room with other individuals who were not participating in the task. The results showed a marked improvement in speed and accuracy for those who were aware of being observed. This research contributes to our understanding of how social situations can influence cognitive processes and performance.
