Understanding the Cell Cycle Phases

The cell cycle is a series of phases that a cell goes through in order to divide and produce new cells. The main phases of the cell cycle are the G1 phase, S phase, G2 phase, and M phase. During the G1 phase, the cell grows and synthesizes proteins, during the S phase, DNA is replicated, and during the G2 phase, the cell prepares for mitosis. Finally, during the M phase, the cell divides into two daughter cells.
