Understanding Tone and Attitude in Academic Support

Hard Pragmatic Understanding Tone And Attitude

Listen to the following conversation between a student and a teaching assistant:

Student: Hi, I wanted to discuss my performance on the last exam. I really thought I understood the material, but my grade was much lower than I expected.

TA: Yeah, I noticed that a lot of students struggled with some of the questions that were quite tricky. I think it’s a good idea to go over those topics together.

Student: I appreciate that. I’ve been really stressed out lately. Do you think I can still catch up before the final?

TA: Absolutely! If you dedicate some time every day and make use of the study materials I recommended, you’ll be in great shape. Plus, I can help clarify anything you're unclear about.

Student: Thanks! Your support really makes a difference. I’ll make sure to reach out if I need help.

TA: Please do! It’s important to stay on top of this, and I’m here for you.

(End of conversation)

Note: This question has been adapted from its original format to accommodate a reading-based version. In the official TOEFL exam, speaking and listening sections require verbal responses and audio prompts, which are not represented here. Please note that this adaptation may not fully reflect the nature or difficulty of the official exam. The audio feature for these sections will be available soon.
